Transport of oil droplets from a jet in crossflow: Dispersion coefficients and Vortex trapping

چکیده
Understanding the trajectory of oil droplets in crossflow jets is important to estimate pathways hydrocarbons and plan countermeasures. We report experimental results an jet with release velocity around 1.5 m/s a 0.3 m/s. The hydrodynamics obtained Large Eddy Simulation (LES) were used predict migration droplets. Two Lagrangian techniques explored, one inertia droplet considered other that treats as massless particles rising velocities corresponding their size. did not note large difference between two approaches. showed stronger segregation vertical direction, which renders usage Gaussian distribution approximation inapplicable. dispersion coefficient at each direction was computed for different-sized eddy diffusivity based on Boussinesq gradient using LES data compared coefficients tracking. also found 500 μm larger escape vortex while smaller ones get trapped within vortex. A similar outcome observed trapping function inward–outward force balancing elevation core. counter-rotating pair (CVP) altered 1 mm significantly, bimodal concentration distributions peaks near CVP cores minimum center plane lateral–horizontal direction. Therefore, measurements size (DSD) could underestimate number small whole plume.

Dispersion of Evaporating Droplets in a Swirling Axisymmetric Jet
The effects of swirl and vaporization on droplet dispersion are investigated in the near region of a two-phase, swirling, heated jet. Simulations are based on the numerical solution of time-dependent, axisymmetric gas-phase equations.Droplets’ trajectories are tracked byusingaLagrangianapproach.Forall of the swirl cases investigated, the droplet dispersion exhibits a nonmonotonic behavior, with...
